I've been a fan of the Gundam franchise for a very long time and have always had a soft spot for the smaller robots featured in the shows like the iconic Haro. When I saw the official art of the character Shuji Itō's small robot companion from the newest installment "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" I instantly wanted to make one for myself.
My goal is to make a relatively cheap, light, and mobile hardware platform with the ability to walk.
Plan:
16 leg DoFs
each leg joint will have an encoder on it
arms function off of a continuum robot design
undecided on embedded system topology, but I think I may end up having the legs on 1-2 MCUs, then the arms on their own and then have them communicate over SPI with a jetson nano
the MCUs will handle low level control loops
Jetson handles IK, high level controllers, etc.
